Homework Club Update

29 06 2012

Can you believe we just completed 3 1/2 yrs of Homework Club?!!!  Our students are learning to focus and complete their assignments, and we’ve even seen better behavior and learning skills; AND test scores and reading levels have increased!!!  We started a Homework club store where the students can turn in their points for a prize.  We taught them the importance of saving their points for a better prize, because life is not about instant gratification but the value in waiting and enjoying something they worked for.  We had great prizes donated from Friends Church Junior High Ministries….Thanks Joe and Brittany for your leadership and support!!!  We gave out year end prizes and 4 students were  selected to go to Sea World at the end of June.
Another great year as come to an end – Thank you Marco and Daisy for giving back to your community.  We could not have done it without you!!

6th Annual Soccer Tournament Recap

29 06 2012

Can you believe this is our 6th. Soccer Tournament?!! Every year they just get better and BETTER!!! This year we had  11 Teams- co ed,  girls and boys from Junior High and High School!  The Sea horses (a local semi-pro soccer team) came out for the 4th year to help referee the games, and this certainly is a treat!  We are grateful to have such a great relationship with Summit Catering as they supplied all the food for the day.  Yummy!!  Before the final game we added something new….we allowed our Homework club elementary kids to play a 10 minute game!  It was great to see the future soccer players run around and show off their skills, and boy are they good!  For the 6th year in a row,  Valencia HS boys soccer won the final game….WAY TO GO!!!  Please join us next year for more another fabulous day of fun, sun and great soccer skills!!!

Serve Day

29 06 2012

We have had a fabulous, serving relationship with Orange Lutheran High School for a while now, and this event was the perfect expression of that relationship.  Friends Church Yorba Linda pitched in for the day along with OLHS to beautify the community!!  The community members came joined our partners with one goal in mind: to make their community a better place.  We were blessed to receive support from the Placentia Police Dept., Placentia Fire Dept., and City of Placentia Yard, and strengthen the relationship we have with these groups.  How cool is that?!! The fire dept. even came out that day to help settle the newly spread mulch, and even let the kids water the new ground!  It is an incredible opportunity for our kids to build relationships with these heroes.

We are seeing more community involvement and pride with all the changes taking place.  We have a few property managers asking to help and want to be a part of these changes! It was a great day of fellowship and progress for everyone involved.

Please join us at our next Serve Day!!
